Amsterdam Transport

There are various modes of transportation in Amsterdam; bus, underground (Metro), tram, train and canal bus. The underground, train and tram run until midnight and the night-buses until 06:00h. The canal bus has 3 lines which go to various tourist sights.

Trams are one of the best ways to travel the city, they are fast, frequent and dependable. Tickets can be bought from the driver, conductor or sometimes from a machine on the tram (depending on the tram), although it is much cheaper to buy a 'Strippenkaart', which allows you 15 trips and can be bought form a tabacconist or the railway station.
There are also day and weekly passes, which are valid on trams, buses and the underground.

In Amsterdam, taxi's are taken from the various taxi ranks and not flagged down like in other cities.
